The Meis Disco Bar is a well-run discotheque and venue for live Turkish music performances. This is probably also the only night club in the world to boast a 3rd-century BC basement cistern carved out of solid rock, now laid out with tables, and quieter than upstairs. The ancient basement roof of solid stone slabs is held up by crude pillars and, according to the owner, sophisticated French glue. The cistern was discovered by chance when the original building—a high-doored former stable for camels, which were the main means of transport in Lycia until just a few decades ago—was being extended.
